Our Story & How Your Donations Will Help:
Native American communities in the Four Corners are facing a critical information gap, resulting in disengagement from local governance and civic life. To address this, The Durango Herald is launching Bridging Nations, a bilingual podcast series tailored specifically for Native audiences.
This initiative will provide communities with access to culturally relevant news, allowing them to stay informed on issues that impact their daily lives. By boosting civic participation and voter engagement, Bridging Nations will help strengthen the voices of Indigenous peoples in our region.
Your donation will play a pivotal role in getting this project off the ground. The funds raised will directly support hiring Native speakers and cultural consultants, ensuring the podcast is both linguistically accurate and culturally relevant. This investment in Native talent will help build a trusted platform for Indigenous voices and strengthen our commitment to bridging the gap in information and representation.
Thank you for your support. Together, we can amplify the voices of Native communities and empower their active participation in shaping the future of our region.
If we do not raise enough funds or are unable to execute this podcast initiative, all donations will be directed to support local journalism in our newsroom to ensure that we continue providing essential news coverage for our community.
NOTE: The Colorado News Collaborative (COLab) is acting as our fiscal sponsor for this work. COLab is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working with newsrooms like ours across the state to strengthen local public-service journalism.
