SABE is takin' it to DC!

Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) of Boulder & Broomfield Counties is raising funds to help pay for their trip to the Disability Policy Seminar in Washington, D.C. —and we need your help!

SABE is a local chapter of a national self-advocacy organization led by and for people with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD). Our mission is rooted in a simple but powerful truth: Our voices matter. Too often, people with IDD are left out of important conversations that impact our lives. SABE exists to change that.

Every month, our members gather to share experiences, learn how systems work, build community, and take action—whether it’s speaking at the Capitol, meeting with legislators, or educating others about disability rights. With the support of trusted ACL advisors, SABE members are stepping into leadership and changing the way our community understands disability.

SABE members have the exciting opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to attend the Disability Policy Seminar —a premier national conference focused on disability rights and public policy. There, self advocates from around the country gather to learn, network, and raise their voices directly on Capitol Hill.

At the seminar, our SABE members will:

•    Learn from policy experts and disability rights leaders

•    Connect with fellow self advocates and allies from across the country

•    Participate in workshops on critical issues like healthcare, education, and employment

•    Meet with members of Congress to advocate for policies that support people with disabilities

For our group, this is more than just a trip —it’s a life-changing experience. It’s a chance to speak truth to power, grow as advocates, and represent the voices of so many others in our community.

But we need your help! We’re raising funds to cover airfare, hotel, and conference registration fees for our SABE members. Your donation —big or small— directly supports people with disabilities stepping into their power and taking a seat at the table.
