Hello Friends and Family,
It’s that time of the year again … I’m asking for donations to our small, but seriously mighty school.
A quick update on this school year. Graham is in his fourth and final year at Rise - he’s the big man on campus in our Caterpillar classroom. There isn’t a day that goes by that he doesn’t share a story about his friends, both with and without disabilities. I am proud that he goes to a school where differences are noticed and celebrated. I quite literally am unable to talk about Graham going to kindergarten next year. Not because I don’t think he’s ready, but because he’ll be leaving the magical little bubble that Rise is.
Kate and Norah, who are just shy of turning TWO, are both in our youngest classroom, the Bears classroom. They are learning new things every.single.day. Things that you wouldn’t expect a two-year-old to be capable of doing, like getting a friend's attention (tapping them on the shoulder and saying their name), and telling friends “one more minute” when a someone wants a turn with something - we’re seeing this both in the classroom and in our home (which has been really helpful).
It’s a really good feeling, knowing that our kids are loved on, cared for, and taught in such an intentional way.
And for me … my biggest change to date. In March of 2023 I took on the role of Executive Director of The Rise School. It’s been fun, motivating, exhausting, emotional, and inspiring. I am so proud to be the head of a program that’s inclusive - not only for kiddos, but for the parents, and my colleagues, too. Even on the hardest days, there is nowhere else I would want to be in this moment of our lives. Rise is my home-away-from-home, it’s my kiddos favorite place to be.
Year after year, you all show up for me. So, I’ll ask again, on this Colorado Gives Day, would you consider donating to my school? It’s more meaningful than you know.
