"The City of Golden is heartbroken to announce the passing of a patrol officer who was tragically killed in the line of duty on November 6, 2024. The fallen officer’s name is not being released to the public per his family’s wishes. 

Three officers responded to a motor vehicle accident call on Highway 58 near Washington Avenue. Two of those officers were struck on the roadside and pinned under a vehicle. One officer succumbed to his injuries, and the second officer is in serious condition at a local hospital.

The fallen officer was a dedicated and loved member of the Golden Police Department and was committed to protecting the safety and well-being of Golden’s residents after serving in the armed forces. He served the Golden community and his country with honor and upheld the pillars of the City’s police department’s values and goals. His loss is a profound tragedy for his family, fellow officers, and the entire Golden community.
