Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary, located in Henderson, Colorado, is home to just over 500 rescued farm animals from goats, to cows, to yaks, to chickens, sheep, turkeys, water buffalo, alpacas, equines, llamas, ducks, pigs and geese! We feed over 48,000 pounds of hay to our hay eating residents and as you can imagine, our hay budget is our largest budget category where we need to raise over $265,000 every year.
Most of the animals that call Broken Shovels their forever home escaped abuse, neglect and even slaughter though no fault of their own other than they became a burden to people that purchased them or bred them. One of our goals is to share the amazing, curious and loving personalities of these animals with humankind through our on-site public events and the reach of the internet.
I hope you will consider donating to Broken Shovels on Colorado Gives Day. Every dollar you donate directly helps to feed, vet and keep these animals safe. We can't do what we do without kind people like you!
Stretch your money for the animals further! Sign up for a recurring donation and Colorado Gives will match up to $100 on your first recurring donation.
