Our Students: From across the country, students come to Louisville, Colorado to learn an ancient system of transformative medicine. They become leaders in healthcare.

Our Impact: Receiving Classical Five Element acupuncture treatment in our low-cost Student Clinic or from a licensed ITEA graduate practitioner is profoundly life changing.

“Acupuncture treatments at ITEA have not only allowed me to address the physical symptoms of why I first started coming, but has also helped me grow in my understanding of how my emotional wellbeing impacts it. With the help of my student intern and the supervisors here, I now live a happy and pain free life.”
C.H., Clinic patient

Grounded in the laws of nature, treatment balances all levels of a person - the body, the mind, and the spirit. The innate healing potential present in each person is accessed with this elegant and potent healing system of medicine.

Your contribution will allow us to continue to offer acupuncture to the community at an affordable rate, extend free acupuncture to underserved populations and community members year-round.

“I have achieved more in my time with ITEA than I ever believed possible! My student intern is thorough and always finds the root of the problem, then proceeds to give me the best treatment possible. I love ITEA and it’s caring, dedicated staff.”
Robbie, Clinic client

At the Institute of Taoist Education and Acupuncture (ITEA), students participate in a full-time, four-year graduate program to earn the degree of Master of Acupuncture in Classical Five-Element Acupuncture.

Our Clinic, supervised by licensed senior acupuncture practitioners, is open to the community for treatment at affordable rates. Clinical students provide treatments under supervision while earning hours towards their internship requirements. Working in partnership with an intern cultivates trusting relationships with clients, supports positive health outcomes, and increases client self-empowerment with integrative medical approaches.

In 2022, we launched a fundraising campaign to expand our current campus. Construction included renovating our student kitchen, adding a student lounge, building a new classroom and updating our existing teaching and study areas!

This was all possible because of you, our generous donors. We are so close to reaching our Growing Our Future fundraising goal.

Our expanded campus allows us to reach more students, which results in more incredible Five Element graduates, teachers and practitioners sharing this elegant system of medicine with the world.

At times of crisis in our community, ITEA has hosted free acupuncture clinics for community members, including support following the 2021 King Soopers shooting and the 2021 Marshall Fire.

We are proud to be able to offer acupuncture as a way to support the community through difficult times.

In addition, our goal is to establish scholarship funds for students and clients in need. Funds for students to attend ITEA and resource options for greater access to people in need of acupuncture treatment at ITEA, builds stronger, thriving communities and increases our outreach.

Founded in Colorado in 1996, the Institute of Taoist Education and Acupuncture is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. In 2003, ITEA was granted candidacy status by the Accreditation Commission of Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine (ACAHM). By 2006, ITEA was authorized by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) to issue graduates the degree of Master of Acupuncture in Classical Five-Element Acupuncture. Reaccredited nationally in 2021, ITEA continues to serve as a leader in Classical Five-Element Acupuncture education.
