The Globeville, Elyria, Swansea Community Investment Fund (GES CIF) was formed in Spring 2021 intended to distribute funds to Globeville, Elyria and Swansea communities and neighborhood residents.

The GES CIF exists to support and fund community wants, needs and aspirations that focus on the inequalities in the surrounding neighborhoods of Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea.

The GES CIF has completed its first grant cycle in early 2024, providing over $80,000 to big ideas from community members related to Housing, Health, Economic Opportunity, Art, Youth/Elder Engagement, Community Voice, and Environment.  The GES CIF received over 30 applications and more than $200,000 in funding requests.  The success of this inaugural application cycle was due in great part to direct community outreach efforts, which included a mailer sent to all addresses in the Globeville, Elyria and Swansea communities, several information sessions in the neighborhoods, and 1-1 application support.  These outreach efforts not only produced a high number of first round applicants, but also offered opportunities for community members to gather, share their ideas for their communities, and learn how they could collaborate together on their ideas.

Our Ask: The GES CIF would like to continue these strong outreach efforts for the upcoming grant application cycle.  Funding would provide a foundation for this work by supporting the cost of the mailer to reach all GES neighbors and notify them of the grant application and supportive information sessions.  This funding could also cover the costs of interpretation, translation, and any other costs associated with outreach.
