I am proud to serve on the Board of Re:Vision, a community organization and urban farm. While the pandemic may be “over” in some Denver neighborhoods, food insecurity continues to plague Westwood, and much of southwest Denver.

Re:Vision stepped in to directly provide food to families in need during the pandemic and continues to run a no-cost grocery program that serves 500 families every week. Re:Vision works to advance food justice through a model that is led by, and for, Westwood residents. I support Re:Vision because it members of the Westwood community access healthy foods by growing their own vegetables, learn about gardening, and providing a healthy local food source.

The Re:Farm program incorporates both the urban farm on the Re:Vision campus as well as roughly 200 family gardens which resulted in over 65,000 pounds of organically grown produce in 2021. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Re:Vision swiftly pivoted to serve its community members by partnering with Food Bank of the Rockies to become an one of their official sites. To date, Re:Vision has distributed approximately 1.5 million pounds of food through this partnership to date. The work done in the Re:Farm program is central in Re:Vision’s efforts to reclaim healthy, culturally appropriate food systems in the Westwood community

Finally, the Re:Own program is a community wealth building and small business incubator program that supports a locally owned economy. The leaders of this program created and implemented an entrepreneur based workforce development course for Westwood residents which also connects course graduates to Re:Vision’s pool of small businesses. Re:Vision partnered with Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute to help this program come to fruition and as a result has graduated 18 entrepreneurial participants to date.

Please join me in investing in the people and programs Re:Vision supports on Colorado Gives day.
