Update #1
We have 12 talented finalists performing their concertos on Saturday, January 6, 2024. The 2024 winner of the JSO Young Artist Winds/brass/percussion competition will perform with Jefferson Symphony on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
The competition runs from 9am-4pm and is free and open to the public. The top 3 finalists will perform that evening at 7pm. Thanks to Colorado Christian University for sponsoring the use of their music building for the competition.
The CCU Music building address is 8900 West Ellsworth Avenue in Lakewood. (1st and Garrison)
The Young Artists Competition attracts talented musicians up to age 23 who compete for cash prizes. The winner performs with Jefferson Symphony as the featured soloist. The competition rotates on a 3-year cycle for different instrument groups. The 2024 competition features winds, brass and percussion instruments. JSO rotates the instrument competition annually to give all musicians a better chance to win awards.
JSO relies on funding from donors for the prize awards, as SCFD and other grant monies may not be used as prize money. Each year the winner receives $5000 and performs with the orchestra. Second place receives $2000 and third place receives $1000.
