We're raising $3.3 million to build a recreational hub serving the San Juan region.

The Cimarron Athletic Field campaign will raise $3.3 million to turn an empty field behind the Ridgway Secondary School into a vibrant recreational hub, with a synthetic turf soccer field, all-weather eight-lane track, spaces for field events, climbing structures for play and fitness, and shaded seating and tables. The facility will be free and open to the public when not in use by students.

Construction of the Cimarron Athletic Field will expand youth access and lower barriers to sports in multiple communities around the San Juan region, including Ridgway, Ouray, Silverton, Telluride, Norwood, and the West End, which have a total population of more than 13,000 people.  There is currently no publicly available track in five counties, an area larger than Connecticut.

We have pledges for $1.9 million, almost 60% of the total estimated cost. Our efforts are at a critical stage, as we hope to raise all of the money needed by October, in time to build the field next year in one phase, which will save on construction costs.

Please consider donating to our project between September 4-30, 2024. The Daniels Fund, the Aspen Institute's Project Play, and hundreds of nonprofits supporting youth sports will match all donations made during this period. Every child deserves to experience the joy of playing sports. Double your donations through this program, and help us make the Cimarron Athletic Field a reality sooner!
