Revitalize Our Community

Lighthouse Church is located in the corner of Southwest Denver. Our multi-ethnic church is reflective of the surrounding community comprised of socially, ethnically, and economically diverse backgrounds. We believe the gospel should be accessible to all. Therefore, our mission is to shine the light of the gospel to make disciples of Jesus all for the glory of God.

The building we live in was built in 1972 as an old sports arena where indoor hockey and soccer tournaments took place. The building was desolate for a period of time. As our church was looking for a permanent place to call home, our hearts fell in love with this community and desired revitalize the area.  

Although we have witnessed revitalization take place since purchasing this building in 2019, our home is aging and there is much work needed to rebuild and maintain the building for Lighthouse to continue being effective in serving our people and the surrounding community.

One of the ways we have been able to serve the community is providing practice space in our gym for a non-profit volleyball team consisting of underserved youth in the area. We also partner with Summit Academy, a Denver Public Schools charter school. Summit Academy does not have their own facility for physical education classes (P.E.) and sports activities. The use of our gym serves the school by providing P.E. and sports activities like soccer, basketball, and volleyball to underserved students.

We faithfully serve our Youth and Kid’s Ministries, yet their spaces remain unfinished. Every Sunday, we minister to approximately 50 kids & 20 youth. We are experiencing increased attendance of families with kids monthly.

Our lobby is more than a walking space. It serves as a community gathering space throughout the year. Lighthouse partners with the Denver Police Department several times a year for various events serving the surrounding community. One such event is Back to School Bash where food, school supplies, backpacks, and haircuts are provided to more than 500 children. Our gathering space is used to host an annual Fall Fest event that provides a family-friendly environment to the community with games and bounce houses. One of our other partnerships is with Kitchen 1 for 1. They are a local non-profit food truck that serves the community.  On a monthly basis, we cover the cost of the food in order to provide free meals to the Southwest Denver community.

In order to advance our mission, we are seeking support for the following projects:

Gym Projects

• Run heating into the gym
• Repair holes in the ceiling
• Add baseboards to the gym floor
• Install drywall
• Repair and or replace flooring

Building Projects

• Replace/Rewire Electrical System
• Exterior Door and Window Flashing
• Replace fire sprinkler heads
• Parking lot repairs

Kids Classrooms

• Build four classrooms for kid’s church
• Bring in HVAC and Heating
• Run electrical in the classrooms
• Flooring in each

Community Gathering Space (Lobby)

• Paint the walls
• Add baseboards
• Build serving area
• Drywall hallways
