Anchor Center for Blind Children

I was raised by an incredible mother who is legally blind, so my passion for helping those with visual impairments began at a young age.  I began volunteering at Anchor Center in 2015 and was immediately inspired by the purpose and culture of the organization and their commitment to helping individuals with visual impairments as well as their families. My dream to eventually work for Anchor Center was realized this year and I'm now a preschool teacher at this wonderful school. I teach five incredible children (ages 3-5) each of whom have physical and medical conditions that complicate and limit their functional vision.  

Anchor Center has a team of specialists working together to provide experiences and strategies that are highly targeted to their specific needs.  This organization changes the lives of not only the students, but their families as well.  We aim to get these children and their support team ready to enter kindergarten by fostering independence and giving families the tools they will need to advocate for their child throughout their school years.  Please consider donating this Colorado Gives Day, it is truly a place where lives are transformed and children are given the opportunity to thrive.  Thank you!
