The Monarch Band Boosters are asking for your support of two smaller ensembles: Monarch Indoor Percussion and Monarch Winter Guard. Each of these programs recently lost their main funding source. The programs are very important and provide amazing opportunities for students to create, learn, and perform a choreographed musical show. We are trying to raise $10,000 for these two groups. These funds will go to pay for the show design, music, equipment, props, costumes, and expert music and drill instruction. Thank you for any gift you make!
Monarch Indoor Percussion (MIP) is an award winning percussion ensemble, which has won 10 state championships and has been a 2-time World Championship Finalist Indoor Percussion Ensemble.
MIP consists of the percussion (battery) and front ensemble (pit) sections of a marching band. Indoor percussion marries elements of music performance, marching, and theatre. Most indoor percussion groups are affiliated with a high school, although there are many independent groups as well. The season runs from mid-November through mid-April, practicing two times per week and on Saturdays. Performances and practices are usually held in a gymnasium. Every other year MIP travels to Dayton, Ohio to compete in the WGI Percussion and Winds World Championships.
It is a lot of work and a big commitment, but the camaraderie within the group is priceless. MIP provides a way for members to maintain their skills during the winter months and a place to grow together as a community, learn new techniques, and create lifelong friendships. MIP is a very welcoming group. You and your family are welcome to come watch any of their practices or attend any of their performances. We hope to see you there!"
Winter Guard (WG) competes indoors incorporating recorded music and traditional color guard elements as used in marching season, with a more intimate performance experience. The season runs November through April. The program has performed at a high level for many years and often places during the State competitions.
Color Guard seeks to be an inclusive community. While the prior experience of dance, gymnastics, or other performance experience is always valuable, all those interested in working hard with a group dedicated to the craft are welcome to join!
Please consider giving to these two worthy programs. All donations received through January 31, 2025 will be split evenly between the groups.
