During this season of hope, we are grounded in our belief that Community Is Resistance. We are grateful to all who have reached out in the days since the election to share your concern for the Hispanic Affairs Project and our immigrant communities. Thanks to your steadfast support, we know we are not alone. You can join our efforts to defend our immigrant family with a gift of solidarity to support our work in the New Year.
As we brace ourselves for the challenges ahead under the new administration, one thing is crystal clear: we need your support now more than ever. Immigrants will be the first in the line of fire. The threats made by the incoming President could tear families apart, strip away critical services, exacerbate economic hardships, and fuel discrimination. The threats to our community are not just looming; they are real. With your continued support, here’s what we can do to build a network of resistance to protect vulnerable individuals:
- Prepare people to protect themselves from immigration enforcement through know-your-rights training, guardianship preparation, and property protections.
- Build up our immigration legal assistance and outreach to help more individuals eligible for immigration benefits and protection from deportation.
- Organize bridge-building events to foster mutual understanding, acceptance, and unity. These events will help build trust and break down myths about immigrants.
- Participate in local, state, and federal coalition building and advocacy to defend our state's protections for immigrants and refugees.
Thank you in advance for your support and solidarity!
