One in four people; that’s the staggering number of individuals who will grapple with a mental health or substance issue in their lifetime. This alarming reality is even more pronounced in mountain communities like the Eagle River Valley.
Vail Health’s Eagle Valley Behavioral Health (EVBH) has made remarkable strides in reducing barriers to care and making support more accessible and comprehensive. Despite this progress, financial constraints can pose a hurdle for many individuals seeking treatment.
Local parent Vickie Zacher understands these challenges. Her daughter Olivia tragically took her own life after enduring extreme bullying in the 6th grade. The family did everything they could to get her care but were met with several challenges, including enormous financial costs—revealing the numerous gaps in our local system at that time.
OFFERING HOPE IN OLIVIA’S MEMORY
In 2020, EVBH created Olivia’s Fund to help local individuals and families needing behavioral health care. The fund covers up to six therapy sessions per year for youth or uninsured adults in need who live or work in Eagle County. Thanks to philanthropy, Olivia’s Fund has made a significant impact in three short years, funding more than 8,400 therapy sessions, including over 645 in Spanish.
Your gift to Olivia’s Fund will make a life-changing difference for individuals and families in the mountain communities we serve.
“Imagine a system where my daughter Olivia could have asked for help and we could have afforded it.”
