ACC Staff's Run for Refugees!

Here's why some members of our staff are participating in our Run for Refugees: 

Beth, our Match Grant Program Coordinator, says: "I am running this year to support our agency, awareness of what an asset refugees and other immigrants are in our community, and because I genuinely love to run. I am especially excited that our Marathon relay team will include staff, clients, and possibly community volunteers. Regardless what we otherwise accomplish, the event will be meaningful for us."

Ali, our Legal Assistant, says: "As a migrant, I feel I can understand refugees. I believe that participation in Run for Refugees can raise the voice of refugees and turns people attentions to refugees and their need."

Emma, our Co-Sponsorship Coordinator, says: "I am participating to bring awareness to the refugee community in Denver! Since Denver is a huge part of the welcoming community, I want to show up, tell people we're running for refugees and hope to widen the welcoming community!"

The African Community Center of Denver (ACC) is a refugee resettlement agency with a mission to help refugees and immigrants rebuild safe, sustainable lives in Denver. We welcome families fleeing persecution from all over the world, from countries such as Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ukraine, and others. 

In FY2023, ACC welcomed over 1,350 refugees & immigrants- the highest number we’ve ever welcomed during a twelve month period. They need support from the community to continue providing services to the increasing number of newcomers arriving in the U.S.

This May, supporters, volunteers, and refugee community members will come together to Run for Refugees at the Colfax Marathon races on May 18th & 19th. In addition to raising awareness for ACC, participants have the opportunity to set a fundraising goal to reach ahead of race day.

Every donation will get us closer to reaching the ACC staff's goal!
