After three years of reluctantly noticing developmental delays in my son, he was finally diagnosed at age 7 with Autism. He is now 14 and I have to literally look at a multi-page spreadsheet I created in order to tell new providers all of the diagnoses, therapies and interventions he's had. Those early years were exhausting, lonely, scary and discouraging.
Looking back at it all, I can now say I am a better and happier mom because of Parent to Parent of Colorado's help. I've met a community of parents who also have kids with disabilities and discovered resources I wouldn't have otherwise found. My son still encounters roadblocks, and I still struggle to help him at times, but I can go to my network at P2P-CO for relief. The support I receive not only helps me, but it helps my entire family unit, and when my family is doing well, I am doing well.
