Movement Disorders Foundation helps people with movement disorders live better lives through collaborative partnerships with those who conduct innovative research, offer professional and patient-focused education and provide unique care services.

Small in scope, large in impact, Movement Disorders Foundation is the only grantmaker in Colorado that exclusively funds “high risk/high reward” research that establishes cross-disease analysis and investigation aimed at developing new insights into the pathophysiology, etiology and/or treatment of multiple movement disorders.

Our goal also is to engage donors at all levels of giving in a meaningful way by keeping them informed about the research they are funding through routine communication on their funded research, including breakthroughs and progress reports, videos from researchers and virtual lab tours, impact metrics, Q&A sessions with researchers and more.

Furthermore, Movement Disorders Foundation restricts 100% of research funding it raises to research scientists, supporting innovative projects from conception and one-off testing to proof of concept.

Movement Disorders Foundation was founded by Dr. Rajeev Kumar, one of the world’s foremost experts on movement disorders. As Medical Director of the Rocky Mountain Movement Disorders Center, Dr. Kumar has solidified his status as one of the most trusted and respected professionals in the field.

With the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA), Movement Disorders Foundation helps fund the Rocky Mountain Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence, a comprehensive clinic where patients can visit with genetic counselors, psychologists, therapists and providers - at no charge. The Center of Excellence distinction is conferred on clinics with multidisciplinary and specialized staff.

And, since 2022, we've been bringing the latest advances and discoveries in movement disorders research each week to over 2,000 readers in our free weekly eNewsletter.

From our first issue through today, the response has been tremendous - with an industry leading 46% open rate week in, week out. In September 2024, we issued the 100th edition of our weekly electronic digest.
