Spirit of the Sun Support

Spirit of the Sun is a Colorado nonprofit that supports indigenous communities. Spirit of the Sun empowers Native youth and young adults by providing career development, mentorship, and leadership training. They promote health and wellness through access to traditional, nutritious foods and address the root causes of behavioral health issues. Through intergenerational programs, they strengthen cultural resilience while working to alleviate poverty and build community capacity in partnership with Native communities. The organization partners with Native American communities both in urban areas and on reservations. Spirit of the Sun is founded on the belief that "effective and sustainable development work recognizes the intersections of culture, community, economy, and health, and that true success is only possible through collaboration," and "community is at the root of all the work" they do. 

I am a current student in Dr. Kelly Fayard's Indigenous Feminisms course at the University of Denver. For this course's final project, I have made this fundraiser to donate money to Spirit of the Sun and support indigenous communities in Colorado. My goal is to raise $10,000.
