First hand experience by Dawn Mullen on the importance of short term mission trips through NOCO Missions:

This Is Dawn Mullen and I’m Deaf. I have an awesome story to tell you about my experience trip to Guatemala. I went with our Mission group from Journey Christian Church in 2020 and then through NOCO Missions. Now this was my 3rd trip on this mission. God called me to go on this trip to help build a house for a family so that they would have a safe place to live. I love helping people who need our help. There are families that can’t afford to build or buy, because of their income. I learned a lot about their cultures. It is very different from ours here in the United States. I was able to have an interpreter go with me on this mission, so I could communicate with the people there and our mission group, with using sign language (ASL). We all worked so hard to make it the best for each family we have built for. The hardest for me was learning how to make cement for the base floor of the house. We couldn’t stop until it was finished. And then the building could start. I learned how to build the house in a perfect way. It took us only 3 days to build.

It was a very new experience for me. While I was there, I was baptized by 2 people who are very special to me. My life has changed forever! I plan to go back and help them in the future.
