In middle school, I was failing math and determined not to let it drag down my GPA or get my parents involved. I needed an easy A, so I chose acting. How hard could it be? But the class turned out to be much more challenging, weird, and fun than I expected. Our seventh-grade production was Airplane—yes, the Leslie Nielsen movie. On performance day, I was terrified, my stomach in knots, just praying I wouldn’t throw up on stage. When the curtain rose and fell, I didn’t puke—success! But what stuck with me wasn’t the fear; it was the rush—the energy exchange between the cast and the audience. In that moment, I felt alive. I realized then: this was my space. This was me. This was where I wanted to be—telling stories, sharing emotions, and experiencing the human condition together.
I believe that the best art is created through respect, collaboration, a strong desire to play, and an unwavering spirit of curiosity. As an artist, I strive to embody these qualities in every aspect of my artistic work; actor, director, and playwright. Telling stories in theatre is a way to see the humanistic experience unfold, grapple with tough topics, journey into new worlds, uncover hidden gems, and ask challenging questions of ourselves and of those sharing in the experience with us. I believe theatre is a place for us to reflect and question, not to seek answers or solutions.
From the 2004/2005 season, I've had the opportunity to share my artistic work at Curious with you! Any donation of any amount can and will make a difference. Thank you for helping me reach my fundraising goal and helping to recharge Curious Theatre Company!
