KAHUBA.org is an umbrella organization committed to “EMPOWERING LIVES TO THRIVE!” via outreach arms benefiting Humans, Animals and Nature that embrace multi-nonprofit collaboration.

KAHUBA.org is thrilled to announce Mustangs and Heroes Wellness Center of the Rockies (MHWCR) as it's third program facility in progress, expanding our experiential and educational outreach supporting HORSE rescue/rehab/stewardship; HUMAN holistic health/wellness outreach; and NATURE regeneration/stewardship.  Since 2008, KAHUBA programs have been operating on two privately owned ranches located south and southwest of Denver (a 35-acre rural ranch in Castle Rock, and a 12-acre high-county wilderness refuge in Sedalia's Pike National Forest).

Mustangs and Heroes Wellness Center of the Rockies partners the Human Hero with the Wild Mustang, cultivating healing through connection and holistic wellness, fostering healthy relationships and community.

Douglas County ARPA Grant Committee commented in April 2023: “KAHUBA offers some of the STRONGEST & MOST INNOVATIVE evidence-based SOLUTIONS to support mental, emotional & physical resilience and suicide prevention” by curating programs & education via KAHUBA Animal & Nature Sanctuaries; Human Holistic Outreach; plus Service & Training. KAHUBA programs annually help 15,000+ youth, teens, adults, seniors, minorities, disabled, emergency/first responders, active military, veterans & families, along with 1,000+ animals.

We are raising funds to purchase a 120-acre turn-key ranch that we've deemed an good fit for our needs (see photos below), as KAHUBA's third sanctuary to be located in Custer County's peaceful Wet Mountain Valley, backing up to the stunning Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. This important ranch will enable KAHUBA, Operation Equine, Mustang Mountain Project, H.O.O.V.E.S., Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, and more nonprofits to join hands along with several collaborative partners to serve our at-risk community in exponentially greater numbers year round, while also providing a safe haven for Wild Mustangs in desperate need of refuge, rehab, training and adoption.  To protect this land for life, we plan to create a land trust, and restore health back to the over-grazed pastures using restorative ranching techniques, rotational grazing, and Paddock Paradise horse tracks.

HELPING OUR HUMAN HEROS

Chosen for its close proximity to a densely populated at-risk veterans community and active military personnel, with easy access for all emergency/first responders and their families commuting from throughout Colorado, makes this family-friendly Westcliffe ranch an idyllic escape to experience transformative healing.

Our Equine Assisted Therapy and Holistic Wellness Programs, introduce whole-being wellness and vitality by exploring heart connection, natural health practices, mindfulness and healing arts, along with tools to self-soothe and renew hope for all.

CREATING A SOLUTION FOR OUR DISPLACED & DISAPPEARING WILD MUSTANGS

Our programs bring awareness to the legacy of the Wild Mustang and the issues both on range and off range, creating solutions that foster healthy community.  Our Wild Mustangs, spread all across the US, are facing death and extinction at an alarming rate, being legally removed from our Federal BLM land due to amended legislation to the "Wild and Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971".

5700 Wild Mustangs belonging to important family bands have been slated to be removed from the open range they have roamed for hundreds of years, naturally reseeding and fortifying the land which BLM now owns.  Consequently, 3000 Mustangs are now suffering and wasting away in tight holding pens in Canyon City with no adoption in sight, likely headed into kill-buyers hands, headed to Mexico for slaughter.

Our new facility will offer mustangs proper training programs, that will also offer employment opportunities to at-risk graduates, preparing the mustangs for eventual adoption into vetted forever homes and therapeutic healing programs.

YOU CAN HELP! TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE TO SAVE OUR MUSTANG HERDS, PRESERVE COLORADO'S WESTERN HERITAGE & HUMAN HEROES TOO!

Your donation today begins the process to relocate Mustangs from holding pens a dozen horses at a time, upon purchasing this ranch.  We have solutions and a seasoned team ready to properly care for, train, and rehome each horse to a carefully vetted and educated forever steward.

A new detrimental bill called the "Return to Freedom Act" slated for the a legislative vote on 11/1/23 could cut spending to the BLM's Wild Horse and Burro Program causing even more Mustangs to be slaughtered with no notice.

OUR EDUCATION/OUTREACH PROGRAMS

1) Serving at-risk mustangs & service members

2) Utilizing the visual arts, music & film to promote education and awareness

3) Creating events connecting humans to horse, ex. teaching and training workshops, etc.

4) Collaboration of events with local & outside community promoting all the the above
