Kelsie's Habitat Vail Valley Fundraiser

Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of working for Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley building homes for affordable homeownership opportunities for hardworking local families. Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, our rural, resort community has faced many challenges during my time here. A housing crisis of unprecedented proportions caused many long time local families to leave our valley and many more to have to fight to live here. Our Habitat homeowners are crucial to our community; they educate our children as school counselors and teachers, they keep us safe as police officers, and they keep our towns and businesses running as plumbers, custodians, and cashiers. For these homeowners, a Habitat house brings stability amidst the challenges and a safe place for a family to call home. After handing over more than 40 sets of keys in my 3 years with Habitat, the excitement, gratitude, and relief from each new homeowner still brings me to tears every time.
