Collecting for your health and the environment

In 2023, San Luis Valley Ecosystem Council coordinated around the SLV and encouraged over 850 families with household wells to participate in a free water quality project, sponsored by the CO School of Public Health to test for 17 different heavy metals in their household drinking water. This project has contributed critical baseline to our understanding of what is happening in our aquifer and how climate change and receiving less recharge may impact the quality of our drinking water.
