Spirit of the Sun is an Indigenous womxn-led nonprofit located on Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute), Tséstho’e (Cheyenne), hinono’eino’ biito’owu’ (Arapaho) land, Comanche, and 48+ other tribes sacred land, working to empower Native communities, one youth at a time.

Spirit of the Sun holds food share every Friday and Sunday afternoon. We receive donated foods, food from our partner farms, and food purchased from local producers and we sort them into individual, family sized boxes. These go out to our elders and community members every week to ensure that they are getting healthy, nutritionally complete food.

During the summer we held a 10 week Indigenous Youth Regenerative Agriculture Certification Program where ten youth focused on learning about regenerative agriculture, decolonizing our food ways and learning about mycelium. We had a series of lectures from environmental justice leaders, farmers, mycologists and more!

We hold Food Share at our office in Capitol Hill on Fridays and Sundays at 2 PM. We are grateful for our local farm partnerships that provide us with fresh and organic produce to distribute to our Indigenous Elders.

We are a small organization that relies heavily on funding to keep our programs going!
