How can South High Alumni help?

The South High School Class of 1965 has partnered again with Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) to help make college possible for Denver Public Schools (DPS) graduates like those from South High School. As part of their 2022 birthday celebration, the South High Class of 1965 raised the $10,000 needed to fund a DSF Named Scholarship supporting recent South High grads in the 2023/2024 academic year. We are already on our way to to raising the next $10,000 needed to fund the South High Class of 1965 Scholarship for the 2024/25 school year!

Join your fellow classmates and make a gift supporting DSF Scholars. If you choose to make a gift, please read all the donation options. You have the choice to make your name, your giving amount, or both anonymous. There is also a small optional fee added to your gift by default that offsets the gift processing costs for DSF. That additional fee is optional and you can remove it by unchecking the related box before completing your donation.

What does DSF do?

DSF is a nonprofit helping to make college possible. With support from community members like you, DSF builds the educational and economic future of Denver by collaborating with DPS high school students, families, and partners statewide to increase access and completion of post-high school learning. This work also expands generational exposure to career and entrepreneurial opportunities. Many DPS students begin their journey to and through college graduation by visiting a DSF Future Center (pictured above).

At DSF Future Centers, located in DPS high schools, DSF College Advisors guide students through building and pursuing their plans after high school, with a primary focus on postsecondary planning for higher education, including each step of the college application and financial aid process. Whether they choose a pathway to pursue a certificate, associate, and/or bachelor’s degree, DSF provides navigation and thought partnership every step of the way.  DSF operates 15 Future Centers in DPS high schools -- one of which resides in South High.

What are the results?

DSF Future Centers help DPS seniors apply for college, financial aid, and scholarships. DSF's Future Center at South High served 346 Class of 2022 students, representing 98% of that year's senior class. We are thrilled to report that 306 South High Class of 2022 students were accepted to college. And we know that getting accepted is only the beginning of the college journey.

"We have awarded DSF Scholarships to 847 South High alumni totaling $5,825,765, and this scholarship supports that effort."

DSF also provides scholarships to qualifying DPS graduates, including those from South High, who enroll in one of 31 College Partner schools, which include technical, community college, and universities across Colorado. The DSF Scholarship is considered promise-based because every student who meets eligibility requirements and deadlines will receive a scholarship award. Since DSF's creation in 2006, we have awarded DSF Scholarships to 847 South High alumni totaling $5,825,765, and this scholarship supports that effort.

"Our Scholars receive $3 in additional financial aid from our College Partners for every $1 they receive from DSF."

On average, each year our DSF Scholars receive $3 in additional financial aid from our College Partners for every $1 they receive from DSF. Because it takes more than just financial aid, DSF College Partners guarantee our DSF Scholars additional academic and financial support on campus by providing additional grants and scholarships. Our College Partners also connect DSF Scholars with special programs and services such as mentoring, tutoring, workshops, and other programs to help them succeed and graduate.
