In response to concerns about the ongoing loss of local wealth (land, water rights, mineral rights, business assets, and more), Logan County community members have joined together to establish the Sterling Community Fund.
This endowment, managed by the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, offers a simple and effective means to "give back" to the region where you have grown up, raised your family, or established a successful career. It will provide a sustainable source of funding that will benefit a variety of projects that make Logan County a more attractive place to live, raise a family, establish a business, and retire.
Projects may include amenities taken for granted in urban areas, which will play a key role in attracting people and industry to the area. Examples include a community center, children's splash park, expanded hiking/ biking trails, green space, and public displays of art. Funding such projects would not be possible without charitable support. The Fund's investment returns may also be used as matching funds to encourage private donations to specific projects or leveraged as matching funds for external grants received by the city or county.
The Sterling Community Fund is part of the Eastern Colorado Community Fund portfolio, which is a grouping of all funds designated to benefit communities or charitable organizations in Eastern Colorado. The Sterling Community Fund is one of 500 charitable funds managed by the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado.
As of December 2021, the Sterling Community Fund surpassed the $2 million mark with a goal to reach $3 million by year-end 2023.
