Democracy in Action

I joined the Colorado Common Cause advisory board in 2017 because I believe in our democracy and I believe it's worth protecting. (The photo above shows advisory board members at our August retreat.)

Democracy doesn’t just happen. It takes work.

These are just two of the projects our small staff of two -- with the help of many volunteers! -- implemented in 2024: 

1. Mobilized over 300 nonpartisan poll monitors in 29 Colorado counties, covering 237 polling locations and 5 college campuses. Volunteers welcomed thousands of Colorado voters to the polls, assisted with questions, and reported intimidation and other issues so that the Common Cause team could respond. 
2. Led the Just Vote Colorado Nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline, working with volunteer attorneys from the Colorado Lawyers Committee to answer over 600 calls from voters across the state.

This Colorado Gives Day, we are working to raise money to pass a state-level Voting Rights Act, to protect the rights of all Colorado voters.
