Welcome to my family's personal fundraising page for The Rise School of Denver, a high-quality inclusive preschool that supports young children with and without disabilities. The Rise School officially launched as a nonprofit in 2003 when six families with young children with Down syndrome came together to create an inclusive preschool - one that has touched the lives of hundreds of families over the years since then. Rise provides a low adult-to-child ratio, master's degree teachers, highly trained teacher assistants, and expert therapists who enrich the development of every child with and without disabilities.
Alice's story: Shortly after Alice was born 5 weeks premature and very tiny, we found out she had a VSD (hole in her heart) that would require surgery, and a rare genetic syndrome that would affect different areas of development. After 3 months in the NICU and open heart surgery at 6 months, Alice needed a g-tube to help her with feeding and growing. When it came time to look for schools, it wasn't easy finding a place that could accommodate her needs, but then we found Rise, and felt instantly at ease, welcomed, supported and inspired. We couldn't be more impressed with Rise, and Alice's teachers and therapists that work with her every day. She absolutely loves school and is growing before our eyes in every way. As we approach this giving season, we feel incredibly grateful to have found Rise and are doing what we can to give back and show our appreciation.
Where you come in: To keep tuition accessible and affordable for all our families, tuition only covers 43% of Rise's operating costs. The remaining 57% is raised through grants and donations, which is why we're sharing our personal fundraising page with you. We know there are many choices of places to give, but if you feel compelled, perhaps consider donating here, so that Rise can continue to support kids and families like ours.
