At StableStrides, we provide health and healing through horses. People of all ages and all different backgrounds come to StableStrides to restore hope, renew their sense of being, and regain their independence.

At StableStrides we get to witness people have that type of experience every single day. We get to hear children develop language skills they may not have had otherwise. We get to be a part of a soldier letting go of the trauma of war and finding connection through a horse. We get to see lives saved and new hopes and dreams made. We get to see the smile of a four-year-old and a sixty-four-year-old. We get to witness healing through the bond of horse and human.

StableStrides is a 501(c)3 charitable organization with the mission to significantly improve the lives of individuals through a connection with horses. This is accomplished by providing equine-assisted activities and therapies including mental health therapy; physical, occupational, and speech therapy; and adaptive riding.

The population served by StableStrides includes children/youth, adults, seniors, active-duty service members, veterans, and military family members who have physical, developmental, or mental health disabilities, symptoms, and/or conditions. These include, but are not limited to, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, post-traumatic stress symptoms and disorder, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, autism, developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, paralysis, amputation, brain injury, orthopedic injury, stroke, and hearing, visual, and speech impairments.

With two locations in El Paso County, StableStrides serves clients in the Colorado Springs, CO area, as well as rural areas of eastern El Paso County.

StableStrides works diligently to keep the fee for services as low as possible. 98% of all clients receive discounted services. It costs StableStrides an average of $136 to provide each therapeutic session. StableStrides receives an average revenue of $38 per session in fees for services. The result is a $98 funding gap for each session provided. StableStrides must rely on contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations to fill this gap and ensure the program remains available. StableStrides also provides financial scholarships to low-income clients who would otherwise not be able to afford services.
