SafeLots Mean a Lot!
SafeLots are about people, not cars.
Colorado Safe Parking Initiative partners with local organizations, faith communities and businesses to provide safe, legal places for people to shelter overnight while they are unhoused and living in their vehicles. CSPI, founded and informed by residents with lived experience of homelessness, coordinates a network of SafeLots across Metro Denver providing dignity with access to hygiene stations and portable toilets, support with case management services, health and mental health care, and most importantly, hope with a community of care.
"Safe Parking is a real community of people who care about each other. If it weren’t for this program I might have ended up in a worse situation."
Many parking guests are working and have simply been priced out of the housing market. A growing number are on a fixed income as they are older or have a disability, and have become homeless for the first time because their building was sold or rent increased, and they’re unable to find affordable housing elsewhere.
Thousands of individuals and families shelter in their vehicles in metro Denver on any given night and currently with 13 SafeLots accommodating 110 vehicles, we can only serve a small percentage.
SafeLots provide not only spaces for cars, but for people to be part of a caring community where they can receive essential support services as they make their way to a permanent home. Your gift offers direct support to our unhoused neighbors and together we can help them stay safe, secure stability, and bring them home.
"My simple plan, ten years sober: have a safe place to sleep, get a job, save money, and rent an apartment. I accomplished all of those goals with CSPI's help!
Thank you!"
A generous donor will double your donations up to $5,000. Please give
by December 31!
