Update #4
We're under contract! In a miraculous turn of events, we were able to reach a deal with our landlords/property sellers to negotiate a purchase of the Table Public House property. Closing is set for late September, and our grand reopening took place on Sept. 6.
Now we're inviting you to join us in a debt-reduction drive. Our goal is to own the property free and clear by eliminating our $500,000 loan as quickly as possible. Every bit helps, and every bit is needed. Please share far and wide as we put down permanent roots in the Overland Park neighborhood.

**ORIGINAL POSTING**
Thirteen years ago our family arrived in Denver with a trailer full of our belongings and a vision. We had a vision to build community in a unique way in Denver, but where exactly? In a city of 650,000 people with hundreds of neighborhoods and sub‐communities, we spent most of the first six months here making initial contacts, asking people to show us their communities, and looking for a neighborhood to call our own. As that season drew to a close, we sensed an open door for us to begin the work of The Table, in the very community in which we landed when we first arrived: Platt Park.
Seven years ago, another door opened for us to be able to purchase our own home and begin putting down long-term roots in our community. Our home served as the base of operations for all of the activities of our family and the work of the Table. Jeanine often commented about the thousands of pounds of produce that were washed under our outdoor spigot and kitchen faucet.
Five years ago, we asked you to help us find a home for the Table outside of our home. A place where the community could gather to work, talk, and grow. A place where we could establish a more permanent and public face of our work. With your generosity, we were able to sign a 5-year lease and opened the doors of the Table Public House in April, 2021. As that lease draws to a conclusion, we have been presented with an opportunity and a challenge:
Our landlords want to sell the building to us. By June 30.
When we opened the Table Public House in April of 2021, we had donor support and community interest but zero experience in operating a social enterprise or hospitality business. Three years later, we have been blessed us with a successful social enterprise, an established and growing community, and an exponentially increased community network. We are recognized as a hub for families, the neighborhood, and countless community-based groups. We have often asked ourselves the question, “If the Table were to leave the neighborhood, would anyone notice?” We recognize the overwhelming response to that question today would be “YES!”
Today, we believe another door has been opened and we have been given an opportunity to establish a taproot by purchasing the building The Table has called home for the last 5 years.
Here’s the challenge: our goal is to own the building with a $0 payment. The asking price? $2,000,000. After consulting with two commercial brokers, we feel that price is fair. After consulting with the board, we feel a purchase made up of community-impact-minded investors and donors is the pathway forward.
We are thrilled to be considering the next stage of life for The Table. We look forward to the increased influence we can have with a greater sense of permanence, as well as a home base that is even more conducive for relational connection and continuing opportunity for community multiplication.
Please consider what door may be open for you to participate.
