Backcountry Search and Rescue (BSAR) teams in Colorado are all-volunteer, nonprofit organizations whose members must spend their time fundraising on top of the time they give as first responders. Providing BSAR services requires administration, funding for specialized equipment, and training. These are all projects that you can support. Here are a few current examples: Lake County SAR and Crested Butte SAR need to replace aging snowmobiles; Ouray Mountain Rescue needs funds to send members to Rigging for Rescue training; Alamosa Volunteer SAR and Larimer County SAR need money for medical certification training; and Chaffee County SAR North needs to replace an old truck. Your support means they can spend less time fundraising and more time rescuing lost and injured people who need their help in the backcountry.
