In September of 2023, four years after Veterans Community Project (VCP) first came to Longmont, the organization took a pause in building the Village. Post pandemic material cost increases of nearly 40% drove the projected budget of $5.5 million up to $7 million.
VCP was able to complete six homes before pausing the build in 2024, and six Veterans have since called VCP home while they work toward permanent housing.
Veterans Community Project (VCP) of Longmont is thrilled to announce a transformational gift of $400,000 from the Morgridge Family Foundation. It was the intention of the Morgridge Family Foundation that their $400,000 investment serve to encourage others in the community to give too.
Shortly after receiving the MFF’s commitment, the Knoph Family Foundation joined in the effort making their own commitment of $200,000. The Knoph Family Foundation supports meaningful work across Northern Colorado – VCP Longmont’s primary area of service.
This gift helps to match the dollars invested from the Morgridge Family Foundation, and even further encourage community giving with a dollar-for-dollar match that will close out the now $200,000 remaining gap for completion.
With your support, VCP can begin construction again to help fill a community need and complete the remaining 20 homes for transitional housing serving unhoused Veterans with the highest need.
VCP likes to say that “community” is our middle name for a reason. This investment from well-respected community philanthropic partners, and the commitment of our entire community in the success of the project is a perfect example of why this is true!
