Heather's Fundraiser: ASP Prevent Suicide 2024!

I became involved with the Alliance for Suicide Prevention (ASP) this past July because I am deeply committed to supporting mental health education and prevention in our community. As a middle school and high school educator, I’ve worked closely with teens for over two decades and have witnessed firsthand the growing pressures and stressors they face, which often impact their mental well-being. Through training in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), I’ve come to truly appreciate ASP’s mission to bring critical mental health education and resources to Larimer County. I believe that providing early intervention, education, and prevention strategies are essential in helping to address the challenges our community is facing. Furthermore, serving on the ASP Board of Directors allows me to continue to develop my leadership skills and gain experience in nonprofit governance, finance, and community collaboration.

The Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those impacted by suicide. In our community, a suicide happens every 5-6 days, and it remains a leading cause of death among youth. However, there is hope—the suicide rate in Larimer County has consistently decreased since 2020, and we are the only county in Colorado to achieve this!
