FrontLine Farming approaches sustainable food production by looking at the whole system, from water conservation, to technology for a changing climate, to ethical treatment of the humans who work the land. FrontLine Farming grows over 15,000 pounds of food annually across our 3 farms using techniques such as efficient irrigation, conservation tilling, permaculture design, companion planting, and encouraging biodiversity. We are committed to paying farmers livable wages with health benefits - something that is uncommon across the industry. The food and medicine we grow is distributed through our weekly food share, which has low-cost and no-cost options for low income community members, through donations and food pantries, and is used directly in our education programs. Looking towards our future, we hope to deepen our commitment to sustainability through purchasing a greenhouse already located on land at Sister Gardens in the North Denver area that we recently came to own. Greenhouse food production is vital for extending always short and now frighteningly volatile growing season in Colorado. The addition of a greenhouse to our production methods will allow us to produce more food for longer, better supporting the health, security, and self-determination of our neighbors. Help us expand our sustainable food production for local communities!
