Support Dark Skies

Friends of Browns Canyon is in the process of obtaining dark sky certification from the International Dark Sky Association. This requires taking meter readings in Browns Canyon National Monument several times from at least 3 different locations while the moon is at it's lowest luminescence.  We also are required to have 4 night sky events with the public each year, such as night sky photography, identifying celestial bodies and constellations, proving telescopes for viewing the stars and planets, and educating people about how to reduce light pollution.

We have costs associated with the effort in regards to fees for the application process, purchasing telescopes and accessories and compensating those who give workshops.
