In the dark days of Covid, my daughter, Sarah, decided to run with her restless desire to do something good for the planet and good for people's souls and create a non-profit that she ultimately named "Protect our Rivers".
It started from a deep-seated love of our rivers and streams as a little girl, it was fueled by the dedication of her grandfather's life to water resources, and it was mobilized by the realization of the rivers’ fragility as a young woman and its vital importance to our well-being. In just a little more than a year and a half, she has jumped in with both (muddy) feet to organize >70 successful efforts at removing over 48,000 pounds of trash in clean-up events across not only Colorado, but also Montana, Utah, and West Virginia, in our streams, rivers, and beaches. Her efforts have been featured by the Bureau of Land Management and celebrated by musicians such as Jack Johnson
This is just the beginning of her ultimate goal to educate our younger generation to become protectors of our water resources by providing them opportunities to experience, learn, and appreciate the joys of our rivers and their life-sustaining force. Please join me in supporting a cause that gives me a solid dose of hope for how our children can positively influence their future. Thanks for your kind support to me throughout my life and now for my daughter's support through Colorado Gives Day as we all try to do a little something to make our world a better place.
