SCAAS Legacy Fund

The Society is dependent on your membership fees and donations for its continually increasing operating expenses. Our Cultural Landscapes Survey Program is solely dependent on your donations and other fundraising activities such as applying for grants. The Carol Ambruster Memorial Fund and donations made in memory of SCAAS members who have passed funded the bulk of the program’s development. The list of members we are remembering continues to grow. Originating with Carol Ambruster, we are now remembering Bernard Bell, Mike Zeilik, Gerald Vincent and Lawrence Catanach. Carol Ambruster’s fundamental contributions to Cultural Astronomy and donations made in her name from Villanova University and Travis Ambruster amongst others formed the foundation of the SCAAS Legacy Fund. The mission of the fund is to support the development of the Society’s research program and encourage the participation of students and Native American or Indigenous peoples in conducting and presenting their field research. It will also fund expenditures in support of specific projects or programs of the Society including but not limited to field research, archives management and public outreach. 

Expansion of the Fund creates a centralized portal for giving and fundraising from all segments of the Society and the greater fundraising community. As time passes more members will be added to those being remembered. Individual donations are critical to our continued operation but Legacy donations, those included in your estate planning, would fundamentally change the impact our Society can have on Cultural Landscapes research in the Greater American Southwest. The SCAAS Legacy Fund has been designed to accommodate all forms of fundraising including individual donors, estate Legacy donations and fundraising campaigns. Please consider donating to our Society this coming Giving Season and during our ColoradoGives campaign. Donors to the fund will be recognized on our website.
