The Colorado Agency for Jewish Education is a dynamic organization that provides a wide variety of Jewish programming to the community of Colorado. Our programs, including the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School, Hebrew High and the Israel Study Tour (IST), offer Jews of all observance levels and backgrounds rewarding and meaningful opportunities to connect with their Jewish roots. We are guided by our mission: Making Jewish Life Sacred Through Learning, so that our Jewish Community continues to grow and thrive.
CAJE History
The Colorado Agency for Jewish Education, founded in 1974, has helped to Make Jewish Life Sacred Through Learning for nearly four decades.
In 1970, the Denver Jewish community conducted a community-wide survey in order to gauge the Jewish educational environment, and the recommendations from that survey were:
- Create an agency focused on Jewish education responses
- Establish a Jewish high school for students in grades 8-12 )
- Create a centralized resource center of Jewish materials
- Provide training to Jewish educational professionals
The help of the entire Jewish community was enlisted in developing the Jewish high school, and the Allied Jewish Federation fully supported and created the Central Agency for Jewish Education in 1973. In 1978, CAJE separated from the AJF, and has flown solo ever since.
