Evergreen High School Bleacher Projects Nears Fundraising Goal
The long-awaited bleacher renovation at Evergreen High School is moving closer to reality, with a groundbreaking set for May 15, 2025, weather permitting. With over 200 generous supporters, the project has already raised an impressive $277,000 toward the $325,000 goal.
The new bleachers, purchased for $266,000, represent a significant upgrade, providing expanded seating and improved facilities for students, families, and the community at large. The project has seen overwhelming support from the community, with contributions coming from local families, alumni, and businesses eager to enhance the school's athletic and event spaces.
Tricia Wales and Shellene Ellington shared excitement over the recent fundraising success: "The support from our community has been extraordinary. Each donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to giving our students and families the best possible facilities."
Fundraising efforts will continue as the project looks to bridge the final gap in funds needed. The Bleacher Committee is working on grant and foundation funding to help meet the $325,000 target, ensuring the completion of this much-anticipated upgrade.
Construction is expected to proceed smoothly, with the target of having the new bleachers ready for the fall season. Once complete, the updated seating will provide a better, more inclusive experience for all who come to cheer on Evergreen High School’s teams and attend community events.
The Evergreen High School community extends its gratitude to everyone who has contributed, making this project possible. As the countdown to May 2025 begins, Evergreen High stands ready to break new ground—literally and figuratively—on what promises to be a new era for the school.

Project History: EHS is the oldest public high school building in Jefferson County. Originally built in 1954 at its current location, the building has seen multiple additions, including a major renovation in the late 1990s that left the multi-purpose field in an even more confined space, fully surrounded by steep mountain slopes, with just a few yards separating it from the expanded main building.
In 2020, Phase I of the EHS Project Home Field ($650,364) brought much-needed new artificial turf to the field thanks to the successful Jeffco Public Schools district-wide ballot measure for a bond that prioritized upgrades across schools in Jefferson County.
In 2021, Phase II ($179,709) brought a new lighting system and parts dating back to the 1950s were finally replaced. The last remaining bond funding was devoted to the 69-year-old EHS building asbestos mitigation, so we relied on private donations and community members for this major achievement.
Now the final and most challenging phase remains: bleacher seating for families and visitors. With no bond or other funding from the school district available, we find ourselves once again working tirelessly in support of our student athletes, students, and community to improve our beloved school facilities through grit and determination.
