We envision a future where every girl receives the necessary financial and social support to successfully complete secondary school and university, empowering them to emerge as influential leaders within their communities. Bahini means “younger sister” in Nepali. We aim to achieve gender equality and foster social inclusion in rural Nepal by improving the status of women through education and training. We know that young women can be confident leaders, inspire others, have a greater role in society, and transform their communities. We work to ensure that bahinis in rural Nepal have the opportunity to pursue higher education and that their financial circumstances are not barriers to attending college and obtaining a degree.
Mission
Our mission is to educate and empower young women in rural Nepal, enable them to reach their educational and career goals, and guide them to become responsible leaders through mentorship, skills training, and educational support.
Background Statement
We work with young women in government/public schools who are in grade 9 (the first year of secondary school) and provide stable support throughout their secondary school years (10, 11, and 12) and support them throughout their college years. We work to ensure that bahinis in rural Nepal have the opportunity to pursue higher education and that their financial circumstances are not barriers to attending college and obtaining a degree.
We look beyond individual academic achievement and also focus on developing skills to build confidence, resilience, and cultivate motivation. We bring in experts and trainers who are qualified in their field for skills development.
We believe that young women can be confident leaders, inspire others, have a greater role in society, and transform their communities. We help bahinis cultivate and improve their communication and leadership skills.
