Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado

A nonprofit organization

Lucky Day is a foster-based animal rescue group. Since 2011, we have rehabilitated and rehomed over 1500 companion pets in our Rescue Program, assisted over 11,500 pets through our State and National Spay/Neuter Programs and are proud to announce the Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado Veterinary Technician Scholarship as part of our Education Program!

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT- 2024

To all our fabulous supporters!

We are so grateful for all of you, we couldn’t do what we do without you so first of all, THANK YOU!  Colorado Gives Day is our main fundraiser for the year, it is what we count on to continue our work.  2024 was made possible because of people like you that were so generous. We love what we do and love our community of animal lovers. Our goal is to save lives of animals and improve the lives of humans, both make us so happy!

We have now helped find homes for over 1500 animals in need.  Some come from overcrowded shelters where they have no other hope of getting out, some are found as strays and never claimed, some are owner surrenders where the people can no longer care for them for a variety of reasons.  All need help and we are happy to be part of their journey.  We are so thankful to our veterinarians who help us get them ready for adoption, some needing surgeries, most needing vaccinations and many needing to be spay or neutered.  Thanks also to our amazing fosters who give them a safe place to land. We do not have a shelter or facility so our foster homes are key to our success!

We expanded our Colorado spay and neuter program to include additional partners and mobile units and our National spay and neuter program now includes clinics in New Mexico as well as Arkansas. With your support, we have subsidized or fully funded over 11,500 surgeries!

While Lucky Day has always felt that education is critical to our mission, we are so proud to be continuing our veterinary technician scholarship through our local Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley facility! Their program is nationally recognized, and we are honored to be a part of investing in the future of animal care.

Grateful. Hopeful. Honored. The support and inspiration that comes from Colorado Gives Day makes these accomplishments possible.

Thank you to our community, our resolute and tireless volunteers, fosters, transporters, veterinary teams, and donors. You continue to inspire us on even the most difficult days.

With much appreciation and excitement for the years ahead,

Kelley Brenninger

Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado

Mission

In order to create a society in which abandonment, homelessness and euthanasia of dogs does not exist, Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado serves the public as a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of homeless and abandoned animals in Colorado and surrounding areas. We rescue, rehabilitate and find forever homes for animals at risk, regardless of age or breed, issue or amount of time needed that is within our means, in conjunction with providing educational and spay and neuter services to communities in need.

Background Statement

Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado was started in November 2011 in Aspen, Colorado by a group of people who love animals and have a deep passion to help them. Our mission is to aid lost, abandoned and suffering animals through rehabilitation, re-homing, education and love.

◾We are a 501c3 (tax exempt status), so all donations are tax deductible.

◾We are not supported by taxes. All funding comes from donations from the public, and from fund raising activities. We do not make money from adoption fees. Adoption fees only cover a small portion of our costs to rescue an animal.

◾Because we must raise our own funds to operate, we depend upon our community for contributions and for volunteer assistance.

◾We strongly believe in the importance of spay/neutering of all pets. This is paramount in getting our pet population under control. All of our animals will be spay/neutered before they are adopted unless a health concern prevents this.

◾We educate wherever possible about proper care of pets.

◾We are a good source for information on pet behavior problems, but do not consider ourselves a replacement for trainers or veterinarians.

◾We do our best to help animals in any way that we possibly can.
