OUR PURPOSE:
To work together as a community to develop a sustainable economy that builds on our existing strengths, contributes to a strong integrated community, and protects the environment, rural lifestyle, and character of Saguache County.
HOW WE WORK:
To more fully achieve our strategies, ScSEED assists other small non-profit community organizations that are pursuing complementary goals and objectives. ScSEED acts as an umbrella agency to assist these entities by providing financial and management services they may not otherwise be able to attain on their own. ScSEED can leverage the complimentary goals of our fiscal Affiliates to further expand our reach and achieve our overall goals and objectives as the economic development organization for Saguache County.
THE FOUR PILLARS OF OUR STRATEGY:
ScSEED's projects fall into one of four main strategies for "Preserving our Heritage" and "Designing our Future" in Saguache County:
1. Civic & Social Connections - Encourage the communities and people of Saguache County to work together for mutual benefit.
2. Compatible Economic Development - Support small businesses and cooperative enterprises that sustainably use and add value to county resources.
3. Agriculture & Environment Conservation - Preserve and protect the rural agricultural community character and environmental health of Saguache County.
4. Education & Enrichment - Increase lifelong health, educational, vocational, recreational and social opportunities.
CORE ACTIVITIES:
Fiscal Sponsorship - Provide Saguache County non-profits a financial infrastructure to operate within required accounting guidelines and support with project management and fund raising efforts.
Projects - Identify and implement projects within Saguache County municipalities and State agencies that leverage available funding to improve the quality of life and support sustainable economic development.
Advocate - Advocate for Saguache County by participating in various state and local events and meetings to seek out new opportunities for economic development and sustainable growth.
