History continues to teach us that education is the most rapid and long lasting method to lifting socioeconomic parity, improving health and living conditions, enhancing technological discoveries and raising the standards of living for all.
Each year our chapter continues to advance its mission of:
• Honoring the accomplishments and perpetuating the history of African-Americans and others who participated as air crew, ground crew, trainers and operations support in the Army Air Corps Tuskegee Experience during World War II.
• Introducing young people in our local communities to the exciting world of aviation and science through local and national programs such as our Mile High Flight program.
• Providing annual scholarships and awards to outstanding youth in our communities.
Testimonials
Please see the chapter Hubert L. "Hooks" Jones Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. website: https://www.colorado-redtails.org/ for the numerous success stories and testimonials of our current events and programs.
The mission of the Hubert L. "Hooks" Jones Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. is to mentor future leaders of Colorado and our nation, from all backgrounds, in adopting the legacy of the original Tuskegee Airmen who were the first African-Americans to serve in the United States Army Air Corps as aviators and support personnel in WWII.
We teach students in our programs that by learning the history of the Tuskegee Airmen and honoring their accomplishments, adopting their work ethic, they can be personally successful and help continue to improve our society.
Our volunteer leaders show our students the possible opportunities for academic, personal and career opportunities in aerospace, trades, and (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) related career fields.
The Colorado Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen was founded in 1972 by nineteen original members of the Tuskegee Airmen founded during WWII. These African-American heroes of the war settled in Colorado, primarily in the Denver area. They saw a need and an opportunity to help young people from minority groups learn to be successful citizens by learning marketable skills. Because the Tuskegee Airmen Program and it's members had great impact on reducing racial barriers we teach our students to continue that legacy by setting the example through achievement.
