Project Safeguard is a Metro Denver organization dedicated to supporting survivors of intimate-partner violence through comprehensive civil legal advocacy and attorney services. We empower individuals experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking to reclaim their safety and independence through the civil legal system. We envision a community where survivor-driven justice is accessible to all people who have experienced violence.

Our Impact

In the past year, we provided vital support to nearly 700 survivors through:

  • Specialized legal advocacy and direct court representation

  • Divorce and custody clinics offered in English and Spanish

  • Expert attorney representation for complex cases

  • Personalized safety planning

  • Preserving family unity and housing stability

  • Systems change work through advocating for survivor-centered policy

  • Providing 22 trainings to over 1,000 members of the legal community and allied service providers

Accessible Support for All

We believe everyone deserves access to legal protection, regardless of their financial situation. Our services are completely free of charge and available to all, with no income restrictions. While we welcome clients from all backgrounds, our services particularly benefit:

  • Women seeking safety and legal protection

  • Low-income individuals (over 60% of our clients)

  • People with limited English proficiency (20% of our clients)

  • Those unable to afford private legal representation

The Growing Need

The scale of intimate-partner violence in Metro Denver is significant:

  • Over 12,000 related crimes are reported annually, with many more going unreported

  • Our team provided over 3,000 phone/email consultations and 350 in-person meetings last year

  • Currently, 80 survivors are on a wait list for our services

The Impact of Legal Advocacy

Access to legal advocacy and attorney services creates lasting positive change by:

  • Survivors moving along a continuum of healing, working through trauma and toward a life free from abuse

  • Reducing financial burdens for survivors

  • Increasing economic self-sufficiency

  • Ensuring access to healthcare and essential needs

  • Contributing to reduced domestic violence rates

Your Support Makes a Difference!

Your donation through this Word of Thanks campaign directly supports our ability to meet the growing demand for services in the Denver area. Every contribution helps create a pathway to safety, resilience, and self-sufficiency for hundreds of Denver residents and their families.
