Support Denver Sister Cities: Building Bridges

For over a decade, I’ve proudly dedicated my time and efforts to Denver Sister Cities International, helping strengthen Denver’s global connections through citizen diplomacy. Along the way, I’ve experienced firsthand the power of this work and have focused on empowering others to seize these transformative opportunities. Together, we’ve been growing Denver’s global footprint, one connection at a time.

As a volunteer, I organized impactful events that celebrated our sister city relationships, including the Taste of France festival, honoring Denver’s historic partnership with Brest, France. I also coordinated a unique jazz exchange that connected Brest’s jazz history with Denver’s iconic Five Points Jazz District, showcasing the beauty of cultural collaboration. Perhaps most meaningful was leading a student exchange to Brest, giving young Denverites the chance to experience the world beyond their borders. 

It’s incredible to reflect on how far we’ve come in just one year since I stepped into the role of Executive Director at Denver Sister Cities International. For more than 60 years, this organization has been a bridge-builder, connecting our city to cultures and communities worldwide. As Executive Director, I set out to honor that legacy while reimagining what it means for Denver to lead globally in the 21st century. Together, we’ve made incredible progress. 

In the past year, we launched a Denver Young Ambassador Program to engage the next generation in global affairs. We’ve created festivals like Taste of Mexico and Taste of India, the Sister Cities Free Concert, and organized two student exchanges, reaching 79 Young Ambassadors in total. These programs represent the heart of what we do: uniting communities, building leadership, and nurturing curiosity about the world.

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re not slowing down. We’re expanding leadership opportunities for young ambassador alumni, organizing even more exchanges, and creating new ways to bring the world closer to Denver. Through the Denver Young Ambassador Program, we’re preparing the next generation with the cultural awareness and global leadership skills they need to thrive. Our events and exchanges continue to amplify the voices and stories of our sister cities, and we’re bringing global artists and leaders to Denver to inspire collaboration across borders.
