Our mission: Elevating Connections is dedicated to building sustained positive relationships for current and former youth in foster care-including those experiencing sibling separation-to use their voice and build meaningful community connections.
Who EC serves: Siblings, children, youth, and young adults across Colorado that have experienced or been impacted by foster care.
Why?: Connection to community, connection to siblings/family, and connection to self can help provide support, strength, and resilience when life circumstances get hard. Youth in foster care often lack these connections due to changing placements, sibling separation, and trauma. Nurturing and strengthening relationships can help improve physical, emotional, and social outcomes for our youth.
Our programming: Elevating Connections creates events and recreational/arts workshops for children and youth to connect with themselves, one another, and to feel a sense of belonging and community. We also run a week-long summer camp for siblings separated in their foster care placements.
- Camp Connect - A summer camp for siblings separated in foster care - August 5th-9th in Deckers, CO
- Sibling Connecting Events - Monthly arts/recreational events for siblings separated in foster care
- 'Not Just Another Art Festival' - An annual art festival for current and former foster youth in Colorado held on May 4, 2024 in Denver, CO
- Community Dinners - Monthly community gathering events for current and former foster youth and young adults
- Creative Expressions Workshops - Visual arts, performing arts, writing, and music workshops that happen throughout the year for current and former foster youth
