The objective at CMLC is quite simple, to serve those in need within our rural community and adhere to our vision, "To provide coordinated emergency resources and assistance to people in need". While our food pantry program is not a “new” program but rather an “on-going” program, we could encounter some hurdles, especially if our agency is “the crisis”. As an emergency provider we cannot fail to assist households that are struggling due to job loss, layoffs, reduction in hours, health complications or financial strains, especially now with rising inflation costs. CMLC needs your funding support to help us ensure that our food supply is not lost in a power outage. We serve approximately 6 -18 households daily with supplemental food pantry provisions. CMLC has one large capacity walk-in cooler and one large capacity walk-in freezer, 7 chest freezers, 6 up-right freezers, and 2 up-right coolers. On average CMLC purchases $6,000 of food monthly and recently purchased ground beef, pork chops, ground pork, bratwursts, Italian sausage, and breakfast sausage valued at $15,000. Recent board conversations have been centered around the topic of a back-up generator, to protect these valuable products in the event of a power outage and maintain our integrity to continue to supply services to Logan County residents in need. CMLC cannot afford to be the crisis, in a crisis. The recent bid for CMLC’s generator project is approximately $100,000.
