Ron LeMaster loved the sport of skiing. He learned to ski at age 7 and never looked back! He spent more than thirty years as a ski instructor, race coach, and contributor to the sport. Ron was certified and accredited by the Professional Ski Instructors of America, was a technical advisor to the U.S. Ski Team, Aspen Ski Club, and Vail Ski School, and lectured frequently at ski schools and teams around the world on technique and biomechanics. His ski expertise was unmatched. He loved what he did and wanted to share that love with others. His technical explanations and analyzations of the carve in skiing were exceptional and coined by many in the industry as the best. A regular contributor to ski publications, Ron was also an author of multiple books, wrote technical guides for the Professional Ski Instructors of America and contributed to educational materials for the U.S. Coaches Association.

Although Ron’s life was taken too soon, he was doing what he loved at the mountain that he called home. Eldora was Ron's favorite mountain, and you would see him there with a hard to miss smile and eagerness to spark up a conversation. Of course, his favorite subject was skiing, and he was happy to offer advice to help you become a better rider.

We are honoring Ron and his legacy at Eldora with a campaign to replace the old, dim, trail lighting with state-of-the-art illumination for night training and skiing. The project will allow athletes and their coaches to train into the evening more safely, at Eldora, under the lights, inspiring future athletes to continue Ron’s spirit and love of the sport!

Just as Ron lit the way for so many others, let us rally together and help continue to “Light the Way” with this campaign in his honor!
